The Board of Management, supervised and advised by the Supervisory Board, manages KPN’s strategic, commercial, financial, operational and organizational matters. The members of the Board of Management are appointed by the Supervisory Board. The Board of Management has ultimate responsibility for the management and external reporting of the company.

The By-laws of the Board of Management contain, among other things, rules regarding the members’ duties, powers, working methods, decision-making, approval of decisions and conflict handling.

De Raad van Bestuur stuurt, onder toezicht van en geadviseerd door de Raad van Commissarissen, KPN’s strategische, commerciële, financiële, operationele en organisationele activiteiten aan. De leden van de Raad van Bestuur zijn aangesteld door de Raad van Commissarissen. De Raad van Bestuur draagt de eindverantwoordelijkheid voor het besturen en de externe rapportages van het bedrijf.

De Raad van Bestuur bestaat uit 6 personen:

Joost Farwerck, Chief Executive Officer

Joost Farwerck (born 1965) has over 31 years of experience at KPN and in the telecom and technological industry. He was appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board of Management of KPN on December 1, 2019.

Joost joined KPN in 1994 after graduating in Law from the University of Amsterdam. He has held senior executive positions in various KPN divisions. He has been (a.o.) Manager Sales and Corporate Secretary to the Board and Supervisory Board. In 2011 he was appointed Senior EVP Consumer Residential and in 2012, as Managing Director Netherlands, he became responsible for KPN’s Dutch activities. In September 2014 he took over KPN’s operating activities as Chief Operating Officer. Joost has been a member of the Board of Management since April 10, 2013.

As CEO, he is responsible for the overall strategy and performance of KPN. His main task is to set strategic priorities in the best interests of the company and its stakeholders. Sustainability, innovation, cybersecurity and diversity are at the heart of this.

Joost is a member of the board of KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds and a member of the Cyber Security Council. He holds a supervisory position at Het Nationale Theater Foundation (The National Theatre) and is chairman of the Supervisory Board of De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam Foundation, which has established itself within the national and international museum world through high-quality exhibitions in the fields of art, culture and photography.

The best thing about KPN is, in his opinion, the company’s power of innovation. The fact that for almost a century and a half KPN's network has been an essential part of Dutch society and has been keeping the Netherlands connected is something to be proud of.

Chris Figee, Chief Financial Officer

Chris Figee (born 1972) has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector. He has been a member of the Board of Management of KPN and Chief Financial Officer since February 1, 2020.

Chris graduated with honors from the University of Groningen with a degree in Financial Economics and finished his Financial Analytics degree at the EFFAS (European Federation of Financial Analysts). He also studied Risk Management at Stanford University. He started his career at Aegon, where he held various positions. After that, he worked at McKinsey (partner in 2006) and Achmea (several positions as director) and, prior to his appointment at KPN, he was CFO and Member of the Executive Board at a.s.r. Nederland NV.

As CFO, Chris is responsible for the entire financial work field at KPN. This includes the financial reports, the company’s financing and capital market policy and the financial planning. He is partly responsible for the strategy of the organization, contributes to improving the business operations and takes decisions in the area of investments.

Chris is a member of the Supervisory Board of Royal Schiphol Group, a member of the Supervisory Board of De Nederlandse Bank, a member of the Monitoring Commission Corporate Governance Code, a member of the Economic Board Zuid-Holland and a member of the Supervisory Board of Glaspoort.

The best thing about KPN is, in his opinion, the pride, the skills, the green heart of KPN employees and KPN’s importance for the Netherlands.

Chantal Vergouw, Chief Business Market

Chantal Vergouw (1976) has more than 23 years of experience in the banking and insurance sector, predominantly in the fields of digitalization, customer service, operations, marketing, branding and omnichannel sales to the B2C and B2B markets. She became a member of KPN’s Supervisory Board on April 13, 2022. She has been appointed a member of the Board of Management of KPN as Chief Business Market with effect from June 1, 2023.

Chantal studied Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam. In 2002, after graduating, she joined ING Groep N.V. where she occupied various management positions in different divisions of the company, including Head Corporate and Mid-Corporate Clients ING Wholesale Insurance and a member of the board of ING Bank NL Private Banking. In 2012, she became Chief Operating Officer at ING Commercial Finance & ING Lease NL. Before her appointment as Chief Business Market at KPN, Chantal had been CEO of insurance company Interpolis since 2016. She also spent five years as a member of the Supervisory Board of Eureko Sigorta in Turkey.

As Chief Business Market she is responsible for KPN’s business market activities, setting the company’s commercial strategy in the business domain. The one-stop-shop for the Corporate Market and SMEs with regard to secure, flexible, futureproof networks and being able to work in the cloud anytime, anywhere. The focus is on creating value for businesses in the Netherlands, including innovations and secure ICT solutions to increase the cyber resilience of public authorities and of organizations.

Chantal has held numerous positions in civil society organizations. Until June 1, 2023 she was chair of the Supervisory Board of Dierenbescherming [Animal Welfare], chair of the Supervisory Board of Stichting Landelijke Inspectie Dienst [National Animal Welfare Inspectorate], a board member of Stichting Kunst en Onderneming Brabant [Foundation for Art and Enterprise in Brabant], the driving force behind NL2025 and NL Vitaal and a member of the Committee of Recommendation of Leaders in Finance.

The best thing about KPN is, in her opinion, that it is a very customer-oriented company that is part of our national heritage and that makes an impact on Dutch society with its technology and experts.

Wouter Stammeijer, Chief Operating Officer

Wouter Stammeijer (1980) has acquired in-depth knowledge of the telecom & technology sectors thanks to more than 15 years of experience, initially in banking, and since 2010 in different positions at KPN. He has extensive experience in the field of transformation, strategy, M&A, and finance and investor relations. Wouter has been appointed a member of the Board of Management in the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) with effect from June 1, 2023.

Wouter holds a master’s degree in international business studies from Maastricht University and is a CFA charterholder. He started his career at ING Bank in structured acquisition finance and was based in Amsterdam and New York. He was responsible for executing a wide range of transactions for clients in the telecom, technology and media sectors. At KPN he has occupied a variety of positions such as Vice President Investor Relations, interim Chief Consumer Market, and Chief Strategy & Development Officer. In his most recent position he played an instrumental role in launching KPN’s Accelerate to Grow strategy. From April 2021 to May 2023 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Glaspoort, and he has been a member of the GSMA Strategy Group.

As COO, Wouter is responsible for the high quality and reliability of KPN’s Fiber and 5G networks, business operations and IT. Together with his teams he is constantly working on the digital transformation of KPN by applying technology innovations and by further automation of processes and services.

Wouter recently joined the Supervisory Board of Glaspoort as a member. In his opinion, the best thing about KPN is how passionate our people are about providing excellent digital services to our customers, day after day.

Marieke Snoep, Chief Consumer Market

Marieke Snoep (born 1971) has been a member of the Board of Management of KPN since 2019 and was appointed Chief Consumer Market on June 1, 2023. In this role, she is responsible for KPN’s activities and determines the company’s strategy in the consumer domain. She has extensive strategic and commercial experience in the Dutch telecommunications and technology market. Marieke is committed to the KPN purpose: ‘We go all out to connect everyone in the Netherlands to a sustainable future’. More specifically, she aims to grow with our customer needs, by empowering secure digital lives through all life stages and ensuring customer centricity.

Prior to her role as Chief Consumer Market within KPN, Marieke served as Chief Business Market with effect from December 1, 2019. She successfully initiated the turnaround of the Business Market, where she and her team created a one-stop shop for the entire business market, with a secure and future-proof portfolio for SMEs, Large and Corporate Organizations at lower operating cost. She was also responsible for reshaping KPN as a customer-centric organization, which has led to KPN ranking number one in customer satisfaction.

After completing her Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Marieke worked as a consultant at Solvision (now Ordina) and Atos Origin. After 2002 she held various management positions at T-Mobile, where she was a member of the Executive Board as Chief Operations Officer, Chief Business Market from 2012, and Chief Consumer Market from 2017.

Marieke is a member of the board of VNO-NCW, an active member of topvrouwen.nl, a coach at Talent naar de Top and a mentor at NLgroeit, a platform that helps Dutch SME entrepreneurs grow.

The best thing about KPN, is in her opinion, the non-stop impact that we make with our technology, expertise, and world-class partners, for both consumers and businesses in the Netherlands. KPN serves all households with relevant high-quality products and outstanding service. Moreover, KPN plays a vital role in the economic progress of the Netherlands, as well as socially on themes such as reducing the CO2 footprint and providing a safe and accessible internet for all. Hilde Garssen, Chief People Officer

Hilde Garssen (born 1973) has more than 20 years of experience in the field of HR and joined KPN in December 2018. She was appointed as member of the Board of Management of KPN as Chief People Officer on December 1, 2019.

Hilde holds a degree in Human Resource Management from the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and has followed many courses since the start of her career, including at the INSEAD Business School. From 1998 until joining KPN, she held numerous HR and other positions at ABN AMRO Bank, including Senior Managing Director Business Services, CHRO and Managing Director Business Change, Integration and Management Group Coordination & Reward.

As CPO, she is responsible for implementing and carrying out KPN’s people policy, which focuses on attracting and retaining talent and on leadership development. Diversity and an inclusive working environment are at the heart of this.

Hilde is a member of the board of KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds, a member of the supervisory board of KWF Kankerbestrijding and a member of the supervisory board of TBI.

The best thing about KPN is, in her opinion, that it is a great place to work. While technology has a significant place in our lives, it is people that make the difference. We show how important it is that the two go hand in hand.
